Atholl Baptist Centre press release
Closure of the Atholl Baptist Centre in Pitlochry.
Following an extensive review of current activities, the Board of Trustees of the Atholl Baptist Centre SCIO in Pitlochry has taken the decision to close the facility at the end of June this year. Unfortunately, there is no longer sufficient demand from the Centre's core customer base of church groups requiring residential accommodation to justify maintaining the facility. Despite being supported with donations from generous sponsors and supporters the Centre has incurred operating losses for several years.
The charity will be dissolved in accordance with OSCR regulations and the charity’s constitution drawn up over 50 years ago at its inception. Regrettably, the closure will result in the loss of one full time and two reduced-hour roles. It is intended to clear all outstanding debts with any surplus funds donated to the Food Bank operation. The Food Bank operation is expected to continue but will be managed by the Pitlochry Baptist Church membership. Pitlochry Baptist Church is located on the same site as the Atholl Baptist Centre.
Pitlochry Baptist Church press release
This week the Board of Trustees of the Atholl Baptist Centre announced the closure of the facility due to lack of demand from core customers and consistent poor financial performance.
Following the closure of the Atholl Baptist Centre in June, the assets of the Atholl Baptist Centre will be transferred to Pitlochry Baptist Church in line with the Atholl Baptist Centre’s constitution and under OSCR oversight. Pitlochry Baptist Church will then take some time, as part of a review of wider activities and ministries, to prayerfully consider how the buildings might be utilised for the benefit of the church in serving the wider community. It is anticipated that the process of integrating the two buildings will be a gradual process as vision emerges and resources are sought. During the transition period, Pitlochry Baptist Church will maintain the availability of the Food Bank operation.
The trustees of Pitlochry Baptist Church would like to put on record their thanks to the Board of Trustees of the Atholl Baptist Centre for their commitment and diligence throughout this discerning process ensuring that everything was handled with the utmost responsibility and care. The Atholl Baptist Centre’s impact has made a difference to so many people. Though this chapter is coming to a close, the positive influence of their work will endure.
